50 Years of Excellence: Nienkämper celebrates its Canadian design history

Multi award-winning and world renowned Canadian furniture design and manufacturing company, Nienkämper, is celebrating its 50th anniversary on May 3, 2018. To commemorate this milestone, Nienkämper is releasing a book of its signature European style, 50 Years of Excellence from Design to Delivery, that represents the highest ideas in furniture design.

“As I look back over the past 50 years, I am so proud of the great work we have done and the trust we have built amongst our peers and customers for leading design and innovation,” said company Founder and President, Klaus Nienkämper. “Mutual respect is the backbone of our business – it helps our people, our customers, the environment, and our industry as a whole. We built our business on these principles and our commitment to them is unwavering.”

Since the company’s beginnings in 1968 with a showroom on King Street East in Toronto, the company has celebrated countless awards and recognitions over the past 50 years, including Best Managed Company, Entrepreneur of the Year, and Red Dot Design Award for Metronome™, to name a few. Nienkämper designs have also been showcased at both the Design Exchange in Toronto and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and are now provided to over 50 countries around the globe.

The company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and staying at the forefront of innovation since its inception is key to its success. Nienkämper has worked with some of the world’s leading designers and thought leaders including Peter and Robert Haussmann, Daniel Libeskind, Thomas Lamb, Mark Müller, Mark Saffell, David Ritch, Brigitte Shim, Howard Sutcliff, and Karim Rashid, among others.

50 Years of Excellence from Design to Delivery details how Nienkämper has always maintained the design philosophy that client needs are distilled to their essence, energy is conserved, and unnecessary waste is eliminated.

      Congratulations Klaus, I can still remember our first meeting in 1974 when I came to visit your Showroom shortly after I started my Imports of high-end upholstery fabrics from Europe, namely the Ormavyl which became very popular for over two decades.
