The 2016 ranking of architecture firms compiled by the US-based journal Building Design + Construction places Diamond Schmitt Architects well up on the list of Top 300 companies. Based on survey results provided by North American architecture practices, Diamond Schmitt registers 31st on the 2016 Giants 300 Report of architecture, engineering and construction firms based on revenues.

The comprehensive listing also puts the spotlight on innovation. Diamond Schmitt Architects appears on the Architecture Giants list of Top 50 innovators as well. The publication cites the development of ecoMetrics, an interactive visual database of energy simulation models for the company’s greater than 50 LEED projects that compare performance against multiple energy benchmarking systems.

“It is indeed an honour to be recognized for our research and development of ecoMetrics,” said Donald Schmitt, principal, Diamond Schmitt Architects. “We place a great emphasis on sustainable design solutions and this tool allows clients, contractors and our architects to better understand and evaluate the options for a more energy-efficient building.”

To date, the company has 31 LEED certified projects. Diamond Schmitt recently completed a LEED Platinum registered and net-zero-ready trades school at Okanagan College in British Columbia.
